Hello and welcome to our web site. This page is to
introduce us and to tell you a little about us at
Elmojama Bull Terriers.
My
wife Marie and I, James - started in Bull Terriers in
1975 when we were still in
Windhoek
,
Namibia
(previously called -
South West Africa
). Our
passion and enthusiasm for Bull Terriers led me to
become a founder member and later Chairman of the
Hochland All Breed Kennel Club in
Windhoek.
But
it was with our second Bull Terrier - “Ch Telhai
Elliot” who on winning his first CC in
Windhoek
, that the “bug” took over, and we sent “Elliot”
to our friend & mentor, Andre Strydom in
Johannesburg
to be shown. “Elliot” became a Champion in
Johannesburg
in 1980 at the SABTC Championship Show, and can still be
traced back in the pedigrees of the Elmojama dogs.
In
1981, we moved to Sasolburg and it was here that the
affix Elmojama was created and serious breeding &
showing began. Together we have been the Secretarial
pair for SABTC for 3 years, and during this time James
was also a founder member & Secretary of the
Association of Bull Terrier Clubs of Southern Africa,
later becoming Chairman of the Association.
James also founded the Northern Free State Bull
Terrier Club and sat as Chairman for 10 years.
He is also a founder member of the Centenary
Terrier Club. The
NFSBTC, with James at the helm - bred some of the best
Bullies in the country - including the 1990 Supreme Bull
Terrier, Anwillo Discoverer of Elmojama.
In
1991 after the tragic and untimely death of this
magnificent dog - James & Marie, having moved to
Secunda decided to take a break from being involved with
showing and breeding.
However, the Secunda Bullie folk soon got them
back into it and voted James on as Chairman of the
Highveld Ridge Bull Terrier Club.
Within a year with the help and encouragement of
his friends, who had kept his breeding going, James
& Marie were firmly back into the Bullie World of
showing and breeding.
After
moving to
Cape Town
in 1994 and becoming members of the Western Province
Bull Terrier Club, James was co-opted as a committee
member in 1997 and was elected Chairman in 1998.
James held this position until 2002 and then was
voted President of the WPBTC.
A position James has held until 2006.
Elmojama
Bull Terriers is the only kennel in
South Africa
that has had 3 dogs and 2 bitches competing at one Major
Trophy Show. With all 5 being closely related to one
another. The
three dogs were a Grandfather, Son and Grandson. And the
two bitches were litter sisters and also a litter sister
of the mother of the grandson - Anwillo Discoverer of
Elmojama, who won the Supreme title in 1990.
We
have always had and still have a small kennel of top
quality line bred dogs, and only keep around 4 Bullies
at a time. Marie
& I have never believed in breeding for the sake of
breeding alone and only occasionally do we have puppies
available. However,
we can help you get in touch with reputable breeders
around the country. Here at Elmojama we use
only the finest and best stud dogs available when we do
breed, and only really to replace dogs either for the
show ring or for breeding purposes.
Bull
Terriers to this day are our passion and we still aim to
breed better Bull Terriers. We are always open to help
new people in the breed. Our knowledge built up over 30
years is always available and for free - but can only be
shared with people if they want it and ask for it.
We
do hope that you will enjoy your visit with us.
